Welcome to leonties.com

This is the personal website of Alexandru ‘Sandi’ Leonties, web manager and, sometimes, a teacher.

Londoneye

I currently manage the great web team at www.lewisham.gov.uk. I am also a partner in Alf Design Studio, a small web design/development firm creating accessible websites for small and medium organizations.

What you will find here

AlfStudio gives you more information and contact details in case you are interested to hire me and my little studio for freelancing work.

There are two blogs: a more professional Web Manager’s blog in English and some notes and memories in Romanian gathered under a culinary name resembling the unusual pair of dolmades and kebab:  Sarmale & mici.

More about me

Before moving to the island, I was a Lecturer in Online and Radio Journalism at A.I.Cuza University in Iasi, Romania. I am proud of my students and I know they have good memories of our classes. The Journalism and Communication Science Department and Nord Est FM Radio are two places where I spent a lot of my time.

Between 2002 and 2005 I was also Content Coordinator for Romania Development Gateway, the web portal developed and managed by eRomania Gateway Association. I managed the portal and I was involved in other related projects such as European Journalist , RoDG Market and RedBook Online.

Also back in Romania my talented and beautiful wife Flori and me used to design and develop websites (trading as Alf Design) for public organizations and local businesses.

I have spend half of my life in schools, and I finally received an MA in Public Communications from Fordham University in 1999 on a Fulbright scholarship and a postgraduate degree in Journalism from A. I. Cuza University Iasi, Romania.

I have been in training sessions at Reuters Foundation London, BBC New Media, and Centre for Independent Journalism in Bucharest and worked for a few months for WNET/Thirteen New York.

And if you REALLY want to know…  I have a BSc (Honours) in Physics (Electronics) and worked as a radio host/producer for around 12 years.

So enjoy and come back often :)
